Slipware harvest jug inscribed with the name 'Mary Courtice' and 'Despise me Not Be Cause I'm smol Fel me often hil Ples you All Edmund Fishley Maker 1824'
Red earthenware, wheel thrown, coated in white slip, with incised and cut away decoration under yellow lead-glaze. The jug has a bulbous body, a short neck, and a loop handle, with a coil at the bottom. On the front of the jar is a spray of fritillaries and a tree with two birds. The name 'Mary Courtice' can be found on the shoulder, along with a man smoking a pipe. Below the handle in a heart shaped panel, are the inscribed words 'Despise me Not Be Cause I'm smol, Fel me often hil Ples you All Edmund Fishley Maker 1824'
