Description

Fritware coated in a black slip, carved under a turquoise glaze

Fritware, wheel thrown, coated in black slip, carved under a turquoise glaze
Shape: hemispherical bowl with collared rim, sits on a foot ring
Interior: a frieze of palmette leaves on the body radiate from four part rosette on the base. Cross-hatching forms a background for the rosette and fills spandrels around the rim.
Exterior: undecorated except for glaze which pools on the lower body or foot ring.
