Description

Earthenware, the interior is lead-glazed olive-green; the exterior is tin-glazed pale beige. Painted in dark blue, olive-green, yellowish-brown and manganese-brown.
Approximately 20, lacking the handle, neck, and shoulder which have been broken off, leaving an irregular edge.
The front is decorated with a shield charged with the arms gules (shown manganese-brown) two swords in saltire the points in chief, a rosette vert above.

History note: Perhaps found during the excavation of foundations for houses near the Duomo in Orvieto; R. C. Bosanquet.
