Production: Unidentified Staffordshire factory (Probably)
Earthenware painted in yellow, brown and dark brown under lead-glaze. A woman wearing a hooded robe, holding a baby in her arms, and a little boy standing beside her on a square base.
Cream earthenware, press-moulded, painted in yellow, orange, and dark brown under slightly blue tinted lead-glaze. The square base is open underneath but only the area below the figure is glazed. Charity stands looking downwards at a baby held to her breast in her left arm and has her right arm extended to the side (lower part missing). She has long brown hair, eyes and eyebrows, and wears a long yellow dress scattered with dabs of brown, and an orange cloak which covers her head and extends to the ground at the back. A nude little boy coloured orange stands close beside her left side and and shelters beneath her cloak. The sides of the base are coloured dark brown.
History note: A cottage at Lolworth, Cambs; bought by Stanley Woolston of Cambridge, who sold it for £1 on 7 March1910 to Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
