Description

Pinkish earthenware, wheel thrown, painted in blue, black and white slip under a white or clear glaze.
Shape: hemispherical bowl with a low foot ring and a flat, T-shaped rim.
Interior: on the rim a diagonal black stripes and blue dots are painted. The body is painted with white slip outlined in black and reserved on a blue background. On the upper body a concentric frieze of flowers are painted, while on the lower body fish swim in a whorl around a blue rosette.
Exterior: under a white glaze on the body, a frieze of diagonal blue and black lines and dots is painted above blue arcading, possibly imitating lotus petal designs. Glaze runs unevenly onto the foot ring.
