Description

Cream earthenware painted in reddish-brown, paler brown, and dark brown under lead-glaze. A cat reclining on an oval base

Cream earthenware, press-moulded, and painted in reddish-brown, paler brown and dark brown under lead-glaze. The underside is open and the interior is glazed. The cat reclines with its head turned towards the viewer and its tail curled round its right hind leg. Its ears and features are picked out in dark brown, and its body is covered with randomly placed dabs of the three shades of brown. The oval base has slanting striations on its sloping sides, and is painted with roughly oval splodges of the three shades of brown.
