Earthenware figure of Bacchus decorated with green, brownish-yellow, and brown lead-glazes
Cream earthenware, press-moulded, and decorated with green, brownish-yellow and brown-lead glazes. The figure stands on a low mound base decorated with a spray of fruiting vine and coloured green. It is open and unglazed underneath. Bacchus stands with his left foot on a low rock or log, holding a cup in his left hand and a bunch of grapes in his right, both close to his body. He has a wreath of brownish-yellow vine leaves and grapes around his head, and wears a brown tunic and a cloak which extends down to the base at the back. His legs and feet are bare.
