Ram
Production: Unidentified Staffordshire Pottery
Earthenware figure of a ram standing on a mound in front of a tree
White earthenware, moulded, and painted in translucent colourless, green, and brown lead-glazes. The ram stands on a roughly oval green mound base with a small tree in the middle at the back. The base is concave underneath and only partially glazed. The ram has all four feet on the ground and looks downwards, and slightly towards the viewer. It has brown hooves, and a striped head and body.
History note: Mr Bateman, Gloucester Green, Oxford, from whom purchased for £1.10s.0d. on 22 September 1916 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
