Description

Bamboo Teapot and Cover. Hard-paste porcelain enamelled on the biscuit in aubergine, turquoise, yellow, black and two tones of green with floral sprigs and grasses.

Bamboo Teapot and Cover. Hard-paste porcelain painted on the biscuit in an enamel palette of aubergine, turquoise, yellow, black and two tones of green. The upright sides are moulded in the form of eleven bamboo canes, alternately coloured yellow, turquoise, aubergine and two tones of green; each is decorated with floral sprigs and grasses arranged one above the other and picked out in emerald-green and white with black details. The loop handle is set opposite the curved urpright spout, and both are modelled as bamboo canes and enamelled in black with stipppled green ridges. The flat top is encircled round the rim by a zig-zag border pencilled in black on green; the centre is cut away in the form of a flower to accomodate the flat cover of matching shape, which is decorated with white and yellow prunus flowerheads on a stippled green ground and centred with a green twisted bamboo knop.
