Description

Creamware transfer-printed onglaze in greyish-black with 'The Haymakers' Return' and 'Coffee'.

Dark cream earthenware with lead glaze which does not extend over the base, except on one side, transfer-printed onglaze in greyish-black. Globular body with moulded facetted spout, and moulded ear-shaped handle with projecting thumb rest and a kick at the lower end. Circular, slightly convex cover with small urn-shaped knob, and a hole pierced beside it. Transfer-printed on one side with 'The Haymakers' Return' signed T. Rothwell Delin et. Sculp', and on the other 'Coffee', initialled 'T.R.S.' The cover is printed with a wide border of interlacing rococo scrolls.
