The possible attribution to Ralph Wedgwood (1766-1837) is based on the existence of an example of this model marked 'WEDGWOOD', in a private collection. Josiah Wedgwood is not known to have made enamelled earthenware figures. Ralph was the eldest son of Wedgwood's cousin and partner, Thomas Wedgwood. He took on a business begun by Thomas (d. 1788) in 1790.
