The exterior has a mottled dark blue glaze deepening in tone beneath the rim. The interior is painted in famille verte enamels with a central iron-red sprig of rose; the rim is encircled by a multi-coloured diaper border incorporating flower-heads and yellow-ground wan motifs, reserved with four vignettes edged in turquoiose and aubergine enclosing alternating 'jewel' and 'lozenge' emblems, two of the Eight Precious Objects. The base has two concentric underglaze blue circles enclosing the mark.
