Description

Hard-paste porcelain painted in a dark rich enamel palette of iron-red, yellow, aubergine, turquoise and two tones of green with details in black with flowers and deep borders.

Saucer dish. Hard-paste porcelain painted in a dark rich enamel palette of iron-red, yellow, aubergine, turquoise and two tones of green with details in black. The shallow, well rounded sides are resting on a low tapered double footring. The interior is boldly decorated with large sprays of lotus, peony and camellia, reserved against an iron-red trellis-diaper ground, within a barbed medallion encircled by a series of broad line borders in white, yellow, red and green, within a frieze of ruyi-heads freely pencilled in iron-red. The rim is encircled by a peony meander on an iron-red brocade-diaper ground. The undersided is painted in iron-red with a classic scroll band round the rim and a border of overlapping petals round the base.
