Calliope was one of the nine goddesses known as the Muses, who lived on Mount Olympus. According to the Greek poet, Hesiod’s Theogany, a long poem about the origins of the gods, they were the daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne. Calliope was the Muse of epic poetry.
