Description

Earthenware vessel in the shape of a bird with a removable head, standing on a mound base, tin-glazed painted in polychrome

Pale red earthenware, tin-glazed and painted in blue, green, yellow, red, manganese-purple, and black. The birdis moulded in two parts, and stands on a moulded roughly triangular mound base which is hollow underneath, The bird's head is painted mainly in blue with black eyes and eyebrows, and has a frill of purple feathers round the neck. The body has a green breast, back, and underside spotted with yellow and black, blue and dull red wings, and black legs with yellow claws. The base is decorated in green to match .
