Tin-glazed earthenware cup with a split twig handle, painted in polychrome with a Chinese boy fishing and a Chinese man standing in a garden beside a small pavilion
Buff earthenware, with an applied handle, tin-glazed, and painted in blue, pale green, dark bluish-green, yellow, manganese-purple, and black. The deep sided cup stands on a footring, and has a handle in the form of a curved twig dividing into two at the top. The twig and the rim are painted dark bluish-green and spotted with black. One side of the cup is decorated with a Chinese boy standing in a pond fishing with a net, flanked by small bushes. He wears a conical yellow hat, a pinkish-purple tunic and short breeches. On the other side, an older Chinese man is standing in a garden beside a pile of rocks and a small pavilion. He wears a similar hat, and a blue tunic over a longer yellow gown. On the base there is a dark green cross.
