Earthenware, tin-glazed yellow and painted in green, yellow, manganese-brown and black with floral sprays
Buff earthenware, tin-glazed yellow overall, and painted in green, yellow, manganese-brown, and black. The plate is circular with a moulded shell edge, sloping rim, curved sides and flat centre. In the middle there is a floral spray within two narrow concentric circles, and on the rim, five smaller floral sprays. A suspension hole has been pierced in the rim, close to the edge at the top when the central flower spray is upright.

The origin of this plate is uncertain. When J.W.L. Glaisher bought it was as coming from the Greek Islands, but thought that Italy was more likely. Bernard Rackham in his Catalogue of the Glaisher Collection . . . (1935) considered that the plate was' probably Southern French (perhaps Montpellier)'.
