Description

Tin-glazed earthenware jug painted in polychrome with sprays of flowers, and a ribbon inscribed 'Lamalou Les Bains' in black.

Red earthenware, thrown, with applied moulded handle, tin-glazed, and painted in blue, green, yellow, red, and black. The jug has an ovoid body with a narrow cylindrical neck, pinched into a lip at the front. The handle is moulded with a thumb rest at the top and another protrusion about two-thirds of the way down its back. On the front, is a blue-edged, wavy ribbon inscribed in black with the name' Lamalou Les Bains'. Above, below, and on either side there is a floral spray with a red flower, blue buds and green leaves. There are two horizontal blue bands round the junction of the neck and body and a border of blue loops around the lip and top edge. On the top of the handle there are six short blue strokes, and down its back, elliptical strokes of graduated sizes.
