Description

White jasper ware, coated in blue and decorated with white sprigs.

Tea bowl, without handle, sitting on a foot-rim. Saucer formed as a deep bowl, with slight recess for cup foot, standing on a wide foot-rim. Both undersides are flat Exterior of bowl and top of saucer coated in blue jasper slip, with a wide white border at the edge. In each case, the blue ground is sprig decorated with a continuous strip of eight stylised acanthus motifs and a band of small looped circles running around the edge by the border.
