Description

Pale cream earthenware, press-moulded, and covered with very slightly blue lead-glazed which is finely crazed and has discoloured to pale brown over most of the surface. The underside is hollow and glazed. The figures are supported on a high rounded base with three clumps of applied 'moss' on the top at the front, and a tree stump at the back to support the figure. Charity, stands looking downards, both arms missing from above the elbow. She has long wavy hear falling down over her shoulders, and wears a long dress with low neckline and high waist, and a scarf draped over her right shoulder and tied on her left hip. A child, nude apart from a drape over his shoulder and round his body, and lacking his head, stands beside her raising both arms to her side.
