Production: Fulda Faience Factory
Tin glazed earthenware jug decorated with a townscape painted in blue and manganese and trees sponged with manganese; pewter mount on the foot and pewter cover and thumbpiece attached to the top of the handle
Buff earthenware, tin-glazed and painted in blue and manganese-purple, and sponged with manganese-purple. The jug has a bulbous body with a cylindrical neck and strap handle, and stands on a low foot. The foot has a pewter mount, and hinged to the top of the handle is a low domed pewter cover with a shell-shaped thumbpiece. The front is decorated with a group of buildings flanked by sponged trees, above and below which are pale and darker blue horizontal bands and a narrow manganese-purple band. The back of the handle is decorated with horizontal stripes.
