Walnut armchair. The back and seat covered in contemporary silk and wool embroidery, in 'cross corner' stitch.
History note: Bought by the donor 30th July 1953, from a sale in East Bergholt (?) Suffolk (Garwod, Turner and son, Ipswich), lot 63. Called 'Mary of Modena's chair', one of five chairs mentioned in the will of Mrs Beatrix Maria Venn (died 1762), who was god-daughter of Mary of Modena
