Description

Wassail cup and cover of lignum vitae, carved and engine-turned. The cup supported by a fluted baluster stem and circular spreading foot. The interior and underside of the foot are varnished, while the exterior has traces of varnish. Bucket bowl and slightly domed cover with an acorn finial. The foot and cover are decorated with radiating engine turned arcs, ellipses and wavy lines. The lower part of the bowl is gadrooned and encircled by a scalloped moulding. Two thirds of the way up, above it, is plain moulding.
