Description

Gold and enamel; rectangular with plaques of grisaille putti on a green ground

Gold and enamel; rectangular, deep-sided box of two-colour gold, the lid having a bezel which fits inside the lower part of the box, the base is recessed to protect the enamelled plaque. The box and lid are of red gold with yellow gold borders chased with flowerlets and leaves on a matted ground. On each face of the box, within the borders, is a panel painted in an opaque enamel en plein with playing cherubs en grisaille against a dark green background. With fitted rectangular red leather case (A) with hinged lid and two hook fasteners at the front.
