Description

Ruby-back saucer dish. Hard-paste porcelain painted in famille rose enamels with a basket of flowers

Ruby-back saucer dish. Hard-paste porcelain painted in rich enamel colours, two greens, pink, aubergine, yellow, brown and black. The shallow, widely rounded sides have a slightly lipped rim. The interior is decorated with an ornate wicker basket filled with lush flowering sprays, including peony, rose and hibiscus, flanked by a sprig of blue single chrysanthemum and a spray of lychee. The underside is applied with a dark maroon-pink enamel.
