Description

Verge watch in consular enamelled case, and set with pearls and diamonds, chatelaine en suite.

MOVEMENT: Full plate movement, not named. Balance cock, table pierced, with eight-spoked design, engraved foot. Engraved slide plate, silver regulation disc with outer scale and engraved 5 to 30. Plain plate, secured by one screw, covering rest of plate, both cover plate and the plate is plain. Fusee iron post pierced. Potance with moulded end to foot. Rectangular counter-potance riveted to plate. Case bolt in slide in plate, end conical end to deep block, nib under dial. Pillar plate with four pillars, having sharply tapered ends to small rings, centre with slight taper. Centre wheel recessed, third wheel bridge. Fusee and chain, barrel with one lip. Set-up click under dial, Verge escapement. Train planted clockwise.

DIAL: White enamel on copper, gilt edge. Radial Arabic chapters, finner inner line, centre plan, winding hole above 6 o'clock, with gold bush.

HANDS: Gold beetle and poker.

CASE: Gold consular case. Bezel and body with outer ring of thirty-three pearls. Back enamelled with translucent purple enamel, over straight line wavy engine turning with circle of dots. Centre with oval having a bow on top and drape below all silver set with diamonds. Oval window, under domed quartz (?), with hair aligned vertically under the monogram 'MCA' made in graduated pearls (?) Gold cylindrical pendant with reduction in dial in centre, plain circular top, stirrup bow.

CHATELAINE (A): Gold, purple enamel, pearls and diamonds en suite with watch. Oval top plaque, then three two-link chains, each wire linked with three pearls to larger plaque, with central silver set diamond oval around quartz (?) covered straight set hair. Five drops of two links, as above. Outer two end in bell shaped items having six pearl drops. Three remaining drops ending in, left ro right: watch key, cut seal, protected enlarging glass. From behind top oval plain white silk (?) ribbon with gold safety clip at end for watch.

STORAGE BOX (B): Red leather covered box with round top over soldered and tapered body. Paper label 'Old English enamel/ chatelaine watch/ ... century' also 'SW.67', small second label '332/ 147.0.0.' Inside covered in silk.
