Description

Jardinière. Hard-paste porcelain painted in blue, aubergine, yellow, turquoise, iron-red, black and two tones of green with flowering shrubs.

Jardinière. Hard-paste porcelain painted in a clear bright enamel palette of blue, aubergine, yellow, turquoise, iron-red, black and two tones of green. The heavily potted deep 'U'-shaped body has almost straight upright sides, very gently tapered towards the high, slightly tapered foot. It is boldly decorated on the exterior with a large cluster of plants, including flowering tree peony and prunus growing behind stacked rockwork on a mossy bank, the branches extending round the sides almost to meet on the reverse, small clumps of flowers and shrubs nearby. The narrow flanged rim is decorated on the top with a lotus meander, the blooms alternately coloured red and blue.
