Description

Fritware coated in a blue or white glaze painted in lustre on the interior

Pinkish fritware, probably wheel thrown coated in a white glaze painted in brown lustre on the interior and glazed in blue on the reverse
Shape: irregular conical dish with wide, everted rim and a low foot ring
Interior: blue glaze from the exterior runs onto the interior rim edge, Arabic script is painted in lustre on the rim. On the body, reserved on a lustred ground, a series of different birds, a griffin and a fox around a central dotted cheetah are surrounded by scrolling vegetation and split palmettes.
Exterior: blue glaze runs unevenly over the exterior terminating on the lower body or foot ring.
