Description

Hard-paste porcelain saucer dish, painted in enamel colours and gilding. The shallow, flared sides with lipped rim gently angled above the low straight foot. The interior is delicately enamelled with an overall scene of two chickens fighting, watched by a small boy and two maidens, both wearing gilt headdresses and luxurious robes embroidered in gilding. One leans on her left elbow on a square wooden table, taking a finger citron from a dish of fruit set beside a vase filled with peonies.
