Hard-paste porcelain bowl decorated in enamel colours and gilding. The shallow, well rounded sides taper towards the small straight foot. The exterior is finely enamelled with two ovid cartouches edged in black pencilled scrolls, one enclosing a scene of two brown quail standing on a grassy bank beneath overhanging sprays of pink chrysanthemum growing from pierced rockwork. The other with a pair of songbirds perched on bare branches, issuing from an outcrop of angular rockwork flanked by peonies. Both cartouches are reserved against a ground of intricate lotus scrollwork in gilding. The interior is undecorated.
Mark: six character mark of Yongzheng, written horizontally within a double circle in underglaze blue.
