Description

Hard-paste porcelain teabowl and saucer, painted predominantly in blue enamels with gilding. The saucer is decorated with a lady seated on a pierced rockwork chair with a high ledge rising behind, set with a gilt censer and a vase of peonies. A small boy is in the forground playing with a black and white spotted cat; all beanth a maple tree in a gilt fenced garden. The scene is enclosed within a medallion edged with gilt dragon and foliate scrolls reserved on a pale blue 'Y'-diaper ground.
