Soft-paste porcelain head of William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland, probably press-moulded, and covered with cloudy lead-glaze.
Soft-paste porcelain, probably press-moulded, and covered with cloudy lead-glaze. The Duke faces front. He has plump cheeks and a slight double chin. His hair is dressed with upstanding curls at the front and side, and is tied back into a queue with a large bow in the nape of his neck. He wears a breastplate decorated with a panel of scale pattern with a Medusa head at the top. The lower edge is curved at the front and almost straight at the back.
