Soft-paste porcelain Seated Woman representing Spring, slip-cast, lead-glazed, and painted in blue, green, yellow, flesh, pink, orange-red, and greyish-brown enamels, and gilt. The unglazed underside of the base has a circular ventilation hold near the back. The rounded rectangular base has a wavy edge at the back, and three low scroll feet at the front. It rises up at the back into a broad tree stump with, on each side, a short projecting branch bearing applied flowers and leaves. The girl sits with her right foot crossed over her left. Her head is turned three-quarters to her right and she has three flowers attached to the hair at the front. She holds out a bunch of flowers in her right hand, and supports a bouquet of flowers on her left arm. Her hat rests on her left knee. She has brown hair, and wears a pink jacket over a chemise with a posy of flowers tucked into the bosom, and a yellow flower at the waist. Her yellow skirt is tucked up at the back, and her petticoat is decorated with a floral design. Her shoes are yellow with pink flowers on top. The flowers on the stump are orange, and there is a pink, yellow, and orange rose and three leaves on the viewer's right of the base, and two yellow and orange daisies and four leaves on the left. The scrolls are picked out in gold.
