Soft-paste porcelain figure of a Man holding a Hamper, slip cast, with applied modelled details, painted over lead-glaze in pale blue, bluish-green, pale yellow, flesh, pink, red, brown, and black enamels, and gilt. The concave unglazed underside has a small ventilation hole under the viewer's right back corner. The rectangular low mound base is wavy at the front and is decorated with applied flowers and leaves. At the back on the right there is a tree with a low lateral branch on the right and one at the top (originally two) branch with bocage of leaves and apple blossom (?). On the left there is a small tree stump with a branch on the left, on which rests a rectangular wickerwork hamper with its lid raised.The man stands in front of the tree with his head turned to his left, his right leg forward, and his right arm resting on the hamper's lid. In his left hand he holds a red fruit. He has brown eyes and hair, and wears a pink hat, white shirt, yellow jacket, white waistcoat with a pattern of bluish-green and gold circles, and gold buttons; a blue apron, red breeches, white stockings, and black shoes with blue rosettes on top. His left stocking has slipped down. The bocage has white flowers with pink tips, and the base is applied with three small yellow flowers, one large red and white rose, and two small dark pink flowers and leaves. The white hamper has gold binding on its edges and corners.
