Maiolica spouted bottle, painted in blue, green, orange, and purple, with a green-petalled flower, stylised foliage and leaves.
Earthenware, tin-glazed yellowish-white overall. There are several faults in the glaze on the body. Painted in blue, green, orange, and manganese-purple.
Globular body standing on a slightly spreading foot; short slender neck with cup-like projection at the top, and vertical spout springing from the shoulder.
Below the spout is a green-petalled flower flanked by stylised foliage, and on the opposite side, are branching stylised leaves which curve round to meet the others. The blue ground is decorated with incised tendrils. Round the base there are blue bands and on the front of the spout, four horizontal stripes.
History note: Countess Howard de Walden; Thomas Sutton, Eastbourne, from whom purchased in February 1900 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher * `Sutton attributed this piece to Cafaggiolo and priced it at 30/-' (Typed Cat. 1108).
