Description

Tin-glazed earthenware

Earthenware, moulded, and tin-glazed off-white overall. Full-length figure of a woman carrying a water jar under her left arm, standing on a sloping, approximately rectangular base with irregular sides. The woman's hair is parted in the centre and is swept up at the back into an elaborate chignon. She wears earrings, a necklace, and a long dress with a close-fitting skirt which has an overskirt with a flounce above the hem at the front. Its tight-fitting bodice laces down the back and has a pointed waistline at the front, short sleeves, and a décolleté neckline, the edge of which is pierced to simulate lace.
