Description

Pale buff earthenware, tin-glazed on both sides, and painted in yellowish-green and orange.
Irregularly-shaped fragment of the side and base of a bowl with a slight footring and central depression.
On the inside part of the central medallion, crossed by a label inscribed '.S. GIROI...', with stylised plants above, and part of three concentric circles around it. On the sides there are the lower parts of panels containing stylised plants.

Notes

History note: One of a group of sherds, accompanied by a label stating: ‘Mostly bought at Orvieto; some pieces, marked P on the back, from Perugia. The Orvieto pieces, with a few exceptions, were found in excavating foundations for houses near Cathedral.’
