Description

Red earthenware, thickly potted and covered with cream slip on both sides. Part of the base and the sloping side of a dish.
The upper side is incised with part of a leaf (?) and part of a circular geometric border, coloured in green and yellowish-brown under lead glaze which has become slightly iridescent.

Notes

History note: Acquired in northern Italy, probably in Bologna between 1908-1910 by the donor, Richard Sneade Brown (1851-1917), of Heathcote, Worthing
