Description

Two joined fragments of a waster dish. Red earthenware, the front covered with cream and greyish-blue marbled slips; the reverse covered with cream slip which is discoloured and covered with greyish accretions.
Four-sided with part of the wall and the broad rim with slightly upturned edge. Unglazed and presumed to be a waster.

History note: Acquired in northern Italy between 1908-1910, probably in Bologna, by the donor, Rirchard Sneade Brown (1851-1917), Heathcote, Worthing
