Two preliminary studies for The Squire's Tale: arrival of the knight on the steed of brass Kelmscott Chaucer

The studies are within drawn rectangular graphite borders. Both studies differ from final design. Upper study, central group of figures are positioned further to right, nearly behind horse. Lower study shows figures in positions similar to final design but with horse and rider absent.
