Note

Brangwyn did several sketches of babies, there is an alternative study of this one illustrated in 'The British Empire Panels' (1933) plate 13. It was used in his paintings of 'Repose - Virgin and Child resting at a well' painted 1896, also 'Rest-Woman and Child seated beside a well - native drinking water from his cupped hands'.
