Eruption Column at 20,000 feet Heimæy, Iceland
Painted in 1976. Grant visited Iceland in 1973, two sketch-books are in the Fitzwilliam made on that visit. On 9 March 1973 about mid-day he witnessed the eruption of a volcano at Vestmanagjar [PD.23-1996] and there are other drawings of volcanoes in the other sketch-book [PD.24-1996].
