Method of acquisition: Given (1877-10-20) by VanSittart, Augustus Arthur

Note

Contains 345 prints. The original part of album begins with the etchings of Van de Velde etc, which are set into the album leaves (beginning with the titlepages V.1-34 and V.1-36a (hidden underneath V.1-36). The other prints have been pasted onto the leaves (around the original contents) by their edges. This pasting was done sometime after 1879, when a large number of loose prints were donated by Vansittart to the Museum. These were counted (numbers in ink on versos), and the prints which were not selected to go into V.1 were mounted into separate albums, V.2, V.3 and V.4.
