Description

Print cabinet veneered in walnut with four doors, standing on bracket feet.

Oak carcase, the four sides, the flat top, and the inside of all four doors, veneered in walnut, with cross-banding and herring-bone banding, standing on four simple bracket feet. One central division inside, the sides slotted for holding and alterring the height of the shelves.

History note: Phillip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), Wimpole Hall, Cambridgeshire, situated in the Harley Library ; sold by a later owner, Lord Clifden, to Collins and Clark of Cambridge; sold to Mallett's, 40 New Bond Street, London; sold to Phillips of Hitchen, from whom purchased by The Fitzwilliam Museum
