Description
Silver, the front set with opal, chalcedony, amethyst and sapphire, the reverse decorated with blue, green, yellow, and pink champlevé enamel, and having a central reliquary compartment with a hinged rectangular cover. Fitted case (A) printed inside the lid with the maker's name and address
Silver, set with an opal, chalcedony, cut and cabochon amethysts, and saphires, the reverse champlevé enamelled in sky blue, green, yellow, two shades pink, and purple.
Cruciform, the stem open set with two cut rounded rectangular amethysts and the ends of the three arms with one. The raised rectangular crossing is set with an oval opal surrounded by beading, and a frame comprising four cabochon saphires in the corners, a square chrysoprase flanked by square amethysts on each of the four sides. This is surrounded by four stylized plant motifs each formed by two chrysoprase leaves and an amethyst bud, separated by a four silver areas each set with a central cabochon saphire surrounded by four chrysoprases and on the outer side two silver settings without stones (possibly never set).
The silver back has a hinged rectangular door with incurved cut corners which opens to reveal a similarly shaped comparment for a relic. The door is decorated with a flower in two shades of pink with yellow and green centre and six projecting puprle spinkes, surrounded by a green inverted scalloped border. This is surrounded by four plant motifs comprising pairs of blue and purple leaves flanking a pink, yellow and green bud, alternating with pairs of green leaves flanking a green triangular motif. Between the amethysts on the stem of the cross there is a four petalled flower head en suite with that in the centre surrounded by small blue and green leaves. At the top there is a silver suspension loop through which is an oval loop and a ‘dog lead’ attachment with a silver ring at the top.
Rectangular case (A) with rounded corners covered in purple velvet, the lower part shaped to take the cross nd covered in pale grey velvet, the lid lined with off-white silk printed in black ‘SIBYL DVNLOP/Art Jewellers and Silversmiths/69CHURCH ST.KENSINGTON/ LONDON, W.’
