Description

Bottle vase. Hard-paste porcelain decorated in translucent iron-red, turquoise, aubergine, two greens, blue and yellow enamels with details in black and gilding with flowers and butterflies.

Bottle vase. Hard-paste porcelain decorated in translucent iron-red, turquoise, aubergine, two greens, blue and yellow enamels of good bright tone with details in black and gilding. The spherical body is surmounted by a tall, slender cylindrical neck, well painted on either side with a rich cluster of flowers and grasses growing behind pierced rockwork in green and blue on a grassy bank; the stems of the flowers are twisted and the leaves curled as though blown by the wind; exotic butterflies are hovering nearby. The shoulders are encircled by a green-ground border stippled in black and reserved with four iron-red chrystanthemum flowerheads alternating with yellow and aubergine peony sprigs; there is a similar border round the rim of the neck encirlced by a row of three prunus flowers at the centre.
