Month Cup (one of a pair). Hard-paste porcelain painted in underglaze blue and red, aubergine, black and two green enamels with a flowering tree and a poem on the reverse.
Month Cup (one of a pair). Hard-paste porcelain painted in underglaze blue and red, aubergine, black and two green enamels. Each is delicately potted, and of steeply flared form rising from a small straight foot. The interior has a scene representing the fifth month, showing a crab-apple tree in blossom, the trunk is in aubergine and the flowers are in iron-red, growing on a grassy bank indicated by minute dots of iron-red and black washed in translucent pale green enamel, flanked by ferns and vine-like plants. The reverse has a two-line poem of ten characters followed by a seal within a single square in underglaze blue.
