Plaque of Apollo Musagetes
Factory: Wedgwood & Bentley
Jasper, pale bluish-grey with darker blue surface and white relief. Oval, the god stands on a projecting base, resting his left elbow on his lyre which stands upright on a tripod stand. There are two holes in the reverse behind the base, and four behind the figure.

This Apollo from a set of Apollo and the Muses is probably the one partly supplied by Flaxman Senior in March 1775: Apollo, Melpomene, Thalia and Terpsichore, Euterpe. This example was made before the death of Bentley in 1780. See Documentation, Reilly, 1995.
