Dalmatic, deep crimson velvet, with upon the front and back and the sleeves wide apparels of linen, embroidered with metal thread and coloured silks in satin stitch and couched and laid work. The front depicts Saint Andrew and Saint Thomas; the back Saint John the Evangelist and Saint Margaret all placed beneath foliated canopies. Between the sets of figures sits a coat of arms supported by a strap held in the teeth of a grotesque head. The sleeves depict saint Dorothy on the left and the virgin and Child on the right with a mermaid on either side. The figures are placed between columns without canopies. The backgrounds are of gold thread laid in various diaper patterns with edgings of raised gold.
History note: One set of these vestments is said to have been given by the Emperor Charles V to the cathedral of Burgos. The other Dalmatic was given to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York by Sir Charles and Lady Walston, the cope to the V&A, and they retained the chasuble.
