Description

Bone china, slip-cast, glazed, and painted in enamels

Bone china, slip-cast, glazed, and painted in two shades of green, pale yellow, flesh-pink, pink, purple, two shades of brown, brown, grey, and black enamels, and gilt. The interior of the base glazed. The flat underside is unglazed and has a large approximately circular ventilation hole. The rocky mound rises up at the back to support the figure, and has two groups of applied leaves at the front. The lady sits with her left leg slightly advance, holding on her lap with both hands, a white cat with brown patches and spots, whose head is pointing towards the viewer's right. She has greyish-brown hair, pink cheeks, and black pupils. She wears a ruffle round her neck, a white chemise, a pink open robe with gold lacing across the front, pale yellow sleeve ruffles, and a pale yellow sack back. Her petticoat is pale green with scattered purple and green floral motifs, and a white and yellow flounce across the bottom. Her shoes are black. The base is painted green and brown.
